The House of Ales is a celebrated bar and restaurant located in the heart of sunny Nelson and dedicated to serving quality beers, wines and spirits, top class cuisine, and providing the best local hospitality in the region.

Since our opening in November 2004, we have been well-received by locals and visitors alike, and have built a loyal following and sound reputation for fine food and beverages, as well as friendly, attentive staff. We pride ourselves in being much more than just a bar, creating a pleasant and comfortable setting and ambience in which customers can enjoy a cold beer, glass of wine, tempting food, and a great
Havana coffee.

Nestled at the top of Trafalgar Street, just under the Nelson Cathedral steps, we are in a prime central location and make excellent use of space inside and outside, so customers can relax and enjoy intimate conversation, while still being part of a friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Cozy and warm in the winter, and sunny and bright in the summer, the House of Ales is the perfect place for a casual drink, fine dining, special occasion or function all year round.
